Building tomorrow’s structures today demands impeccable strength and performance under pressure. GRACE TMT Bars are completely equipped to deliver in the toughest of situations, and that confidence comes from being part of Grace Castings Ltd. After all GRACE TMT Bars bring you the promise of Quality.
GRACE TMT Bars are made from pure steel and are manufactured in one of the most advanced process plants in India. The plant produces BIS certified TMT Bars conforming to IS-1786 specifications for Fe415 / 415-D / 415-S; Fe500 / 500-S / 500-D & Fe550 grade. The product is further tested and certified by ISI and other Government approved Labs. What’s more, GRACE TMT Bars come with the quality assurance of the hallmark ‘GRACE’ Brand. EVCON TMT Technology GRACE TMT Bars are produced using the most advanced Thermo-Mechanical Treatment available worldwide. The raw material is produced through a stringent quality controlled steel-making process. The billet or slab is subsequently hot rolled through an automatic rolling mill into high-strength GRACE TMT Bars having consistent mechanical properties and dimensional control.
GRACE TMT (Evcon - Mechanically Treated) Bars are manufactured from new-generation high-strength steel by using the most advance Evotech Process. It imparts superior weldability, bendbility and better bonding with concrete to the bars, alongwith high thermal and corrosion resistance. In the Evotech process, red hot steel bars are made to pass through water cooling (quenching) system, which cools their outer surface rapidly, leaving the core hot. Once out of the quenching chamber, heat flows outwards from the core to the surface, further tempering the bars. This process gives the TMT Bars unyielding strength, at the same time giving them superior weldability and bendaiity. The Evotech Process imparts unquestionable superiority to GRACE TMT Bars, which makes them the idle choice for a variety of applications.
The bars leaving the final mill stand at about 900oC and are passed through a specially designed quenching box. The red hot bars are then subjected to sudden and intense cooling with a specially designed water spray system. The cooling time and the rate depend on the size of the bars, and are controlled by maintaining a desired temperature and flow rate in the cooling box. The surface gets quenched, cooling the outer layer of the bars to a temperature of 500 o C and forming a hard martensite structure. At the same time, the inner layer remains comparatively hot and austenitic in nature.
Once the bars leave the quenching box, their core remains hot as compared to the surface, allowing heat to flow from the core to the outer surface causing tempering of the outer martensitic layer into structures called ‘Tempered Martensite’. The core still remains austenitic at this stage.
The bars are finally placed on a cooling bed where the core is air-cooled into ductile Ferrite Pearlite structures. Thus, the final structures of GRACE TMT Bars consists of a combination of a strong outer layer (Tempered Martensite) with a ductile core (Ferrite-Pearlite), living them an optimum combination of high strength and ductility.
Grace Quality Checks (GQC) is stringent quality check guidelines for ensuring only the best TMT bars reach our customer. At Grace we very well understand that the best products journey begins from the best input and therefore the stringent guidelines for quality check is defined from the raw material stage to the final despatch. The quality checks undergo 5 points of check at various levels from input, process, output and despatch. To further assure our esteemed customers. Grace even does a 3rd party quality check through ISI and other Government approved Labs.
Each of the facilities has equipments to measure TMT bars on all parameters. The spectro-labs are equipped with spectrometer called SPECTROMAX, manufactured by BELEC GmbH, Germany. This spectrometer can check 26 constituent elements of re-bars. The machine is equipped to test results in one minute. This makes it possible to check re-bars at higher rate of interval thus ensuring best quality products go to our customers.
Plant is also equipped with UTM with 60 KN capacity.
The tests conducted at the labs include tensile, elongation, bend test and re-bend test. Moreover this is done for every 5 mt of output which again is a Grace way of ensuring quality of material.
The testing machines are also calibrated frequently on scheduled basis to ensure correct readings. The quality paranoia makes GRACE TMT high on specifications and quality, of both the product and service.
GRACE TMT Bars have much higher Yield Strength (Fe 500 grade) and Tensile Strength values as compared to normal rebars. It has been proven that switching to high strength GRACE TMT Bars helps bring down steel consumption in any construction, thereby saving costs by upto 7%
Higher BendabilityThe Evotech process used in the manufacturing of GRACE TMT Bars ensures a combination of Tempered Martensite on the outer surface, making it tough, and an inner core of fine-grain Ferrite- Pearlite. This makes the TMT Bars bendable and ideal for any RCC construction. GRACE TMT Bars demonstrate good results even in the reverse bend test.
Higher Corrosion ResistanceGRACE TMT Bars do not have Eutectoid Carbides, Pearlite Colonies and Torsional Residual Stress, thereby making them highly resistant to corrosion. The stability of the composite and the uniform microstructure reinforces their corrosion resistance property.
Better Bend Strength with ConcreteGRACE TMT Bars have ribs at equal distances ensures better bonding of steel with concrete and increases the strength of construction.
Higher WeldabilityGRACE TMT Bars have a low carbon content and low carbon equivalent, resulting in superior weldability. Also, no pre-heating or post-warming is required in any of the welding processes, namely arc welding, flash butt welding, gas shielded semi-automatic working, gas pressure welding and resistance welding.
High Thermal ResistanceGRACE TMT Bars have a uniform and dense layer of Tempered Martensitic rings on the outer surface. This causes the Bars to exhibit no major loss of strength at elevated temperatures.
Higher Earthquake ResistanceThe alloy chemistry and process parameters of GRACE TMT Bars re controlled to achieve high stress ratio (UTS/YS) at a high level of ductility. This enables the steel bars to absorb higher elastic strain energy of the cyclic loading encountered during an earthquake. This makes GRACE TMT Bars the ideal choice for a seismic design.
